Position Summary
IMS is seeking detail-oriented, adaptable Technical Writers to support client-facing communication initiatives. This role focuses on translating complex technical and scientific information into clear, accurate, and compelling content across multiple formats.
Key Responsibilities (List not all inclusive):
- Develop, write, and edit a variety of technical and programmatic materials, including:
- Reports, success stories, and outreach content
- Briefings, slide decks, and executive summaries
- Annual reports and program documentation
- Conduct research and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather and validate technical information
- Edit and proofread materials for clarity, accuracy, grammar, tone, and compliance with client standards
- Manage multiple writing requests and priorities in a fast-paced, stakeholder-driven environment
- Track deliverables through multiple review cycles, including leadership and public affairs review
- Support development of communication products such as fact sheets, brochures, media kits, and digital content
- Participate in meetings and working sessions to align on priorities, content needs, and deadlines
- Compile and contribute to recurring deliverables (e.g., activity reports, annual reports)
- Ensure all work complies with branding, confidentiality, and operational security requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve communication processes and expand content impact
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in technical writing, editing, or communications
- Experience supporting DoD, AFRL, or federal contracting environments
- Familiarity with technical, scientific, or R&D-based programs
- Experience with Adobe tools, multimedia content, or video editing
- Exposure to content strategy, communications planning, or program outreach
- Meets U.S. citizenship and work eligibility requirements for federal contractors
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DOD) Secret level clearance, if required
- Excellent written and verbal communication

- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
- Visual acuity for close work, such as reading on screens and in print and working on a computer
- Occasional lifting of materials or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in a professional office environment
- Sufficient physical ability to move about the workspace to attend meetings, access files, and perform other job-related tasks
